East Central accepts applications for general manager

After 41 years (26 as general manager), Al Deming will retire Aug. 1, 2017. The East Central/Select Sires Board of Directors is opening up applications and will be accepting them until Oct. 15, 2016. After that, the board will review all applications, interview the candidates they choose, and make a hiring decision by Dec. 1, 2016. The new general manager will start Jan. 1, 2017, and will work with Al Deming until his retirement.

All applicants should have a college degree OR minimum of five-years experience supervising employees in an agricultural setting. Applicants should fill out an East Central/Select Sires job application completely, prepare a cover letter, and provide a complete résumé of experiences.

East Central/Select Sires offers four summer internships

East Central/Select Sires has four internship opportunities available for summer, 2017: artificial insemination (2), sales and marketing, and communications.

The A.I. specialist interns will have the opportunity to experience a career in the A.I. industry and work with the breeds’ most elite females to produce the next generation of impact bulls and females. This internship provides the opportunity to be exposed to the best in the A.I. industry and hone the appropriate individual’s breeding skills in both large-herd commercial operations and registered elite embryo programs throughout Southern Wisconsin.

The sales and marketing intern will work with East Central/Select Sires staff and suppliers to develop customer presentations for specific animal-health products and present industry-leading genetic plans for advancement. This intern will work alongside our professional sales and technician staff to take the customer presentations to the farm, and finally, follow up to evaluate producer response.

The communications intern is responsible for a variety of projects within the areas of public relations, written communications, print advertising and promotions, video creation, and social media. The appropriate applicant will also receive a broad range of experience with all East Central/Select Sires programs and services.
